On February 8, 2026, the Derby Fire Department and mutual aid partners operated at a multi alarm structure fire at 23 Derby Avenue. Crews encountered heavy fire conditions with flames venting through the roof, multiple exposure buildings, and challenging water supply conditions due to frozen hydrants. All occupants were safely accounted for, with several evacuations conducted and non life threatening injuries reported. The fire was under control after several hours of coordinated operations
