At approximately 5:30 PM, crews responded to a reported structure fire on South Cliff Street in Ansonia, encountering heavy smoke and fire from a three-story wood-frame Victorian. Around 5:50 PM, a mayday was transmitted by four members who were briefly surrounded by fire and were able to self-extricate and be evaluated by EMS. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm, with crews operating for several hours. The incident was declared under control at approximately 7:25 PM.
